COMMERCIAL MANAGEMENT CHANGES AT J&L SPECIALTY PRODUCTS

 PITTSBURGH, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Several management appointments have been announced for the commercial department of J&L Specialty Products Corporation, the Pittsburgh-based specialty steel producer, it was announced today.
 Geoffrey S. Gibson will become vice president-commercial effective June 1. He succeeds Donald E. Zakman who has announced his retirement effective May 31. Gibson is currently serving as general manager-sales.
 David G. Fox is appointed general manager-marketing effective May 1. He succeeds Phillip J. Rouce who has announced his retirement effective April 30. Fox is presently assigned as marketing manager-stainless sheet.
 William G. Harbison Jr. will move to marketing manager-stainless sheet from his current position as marketing manager-strip, export and specialty products.
 Eric V. Templin will succeed Harbison as marketing manager-strip, export and specialty products. Templin has been serving as assistant marketing manager-stainless sheet.
 John P. Junker is named assistant marketing manager-stainless sheet. He was previously assigned as a sales representative in the corporation's regional sales office at Chicago.
 As part of the reorganization of the commercial department, Gibson's position will not be filled. The field sales organization will continue to report to him in his new role as vice president-commercial.
 Zakman, 56, received a bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh. He entered the specialty steel industry in 1959 and held various marketing assignments within the industry prior to joining J&L's predecessor company in 1981 as general manager-marketing. He was named vice president-commercial in 1985.
 Gibson, 48, received a bachelor's degree in science from Southern Methodist University and joined J&L's predecessor company in 1966. Following assignments as a sales representative, he was appointed assistant product manager-stainless strip in 1973, product manager in 1974 and regional sales manager in 1977. Gibson was named general manager-sales in 1981.
 Rouce, 58, received a bachelor's degree in speech and English from Denison University. He began his steel industry career in 1959 with a Cleveland-based steel producer and served in various commercial assignments. He joined J&L's predecessor company in 1981 as general manager-sales for the eastern and central sales regions. Rouce was appointed general manager-marketing in 1985.
 Fox, 39, holds a bachelor's degree in criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He joined J&L's predecessor company at Aliquippa, Pa., in 1975. He later moved to the commercial department and held various field sales assignments prior to his appointment as assistant marketing manager in 1989. Fox was promoted to marketing manager-stainless sheet in 1991.
 Harbison, 36, received a bachelor's degree in economics from Bucknell University. He joined J&L's predecessor company in 1978 and served in various field sales assignments prior to being named assistant marketing manager in 1988. He was appointed marketing manager-strip, export and specialty products in 1991.
 Templin, 36, received a bachelor's degree in political science from Allegheny College. He joined J&L's predecessor company in 1980 and has served in various commercial, quality and production planning assignments prior to his appointment as assistant marketing manager in 1992.
 Junker, 38, received a bachelor's degree in public administration from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. He joined J&L Specialty Products in 1990 as a sales representative at the corporation's Chicago office.
 J&L Specialty Products Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ugine S.A. of Paris. From its general office in Pittsburgh, J&L operates steelmaking and finishing plants in Detroit; Louisville, Ohio; and Midland, Pa. Together, J&L and Ugine make up the world's largest manufacturer of stainless steel.
