COMMENT & ANALYSIS - Alternative agenda; Letters to the Editor.Byline: Mike Butler I AM shocked at the council's plans to stop cremations taking place at Anfield Crematorium. Apparently the plan is to continue services at Anfield and then transport the bodies of the deceased to Springwood spring·wood n. Young, usually soft wood that lies directly beneath the bark and develops in early spring. for cremation cremation, disposal of a corpse by fire. It is an ancient and widespread practice, second only to burial. It has been found among the chiefdoms of the Pacific Northwest, among Northern Athapascan bands in Alaska, and among Canadian cultural groups. . Clearly there is some kind of alternative agenda here and I fear this is the council's attempt at paving the way for Anfield's eventual closure. With this in mind, can I appeal to all residents to protest at the failure of this Lib-Dem Council to facilitate funeral services and cremations being continued at Anfield Crematorium rather than bodies being transported to Springwood.
