Hollywood's hoping for a super 2006, and, frankly, after 2005, so are we. Here are the releases through the Memorial Day weekend and some of the promising-looking titles after that. We've also highlighted some films with interviews with stars. Be warned, dates may change and some films may disappear altogether (studios are fickle that way).

JAN. 27

ANNAPOLIS: Working-class student at the Naval Academy must prove himself in the boxing ring. Long-delayed release stars ``Spider-Man's'' James Franco and ``Four Brothers' '' Tyrese Gibson. (Touchstone)

A GOOD WOMAN: Update of Oscar Wilde's ``Lady Windemere's Fan,'' starring the long-missing Helen Hunt, the ubiquitous Scarlett Johansson and the always-great Tom Wilkinson. (Lionsgate)

MANDERLAY: The second part of Lars von Trier's bare-stage, dysfunctional-America trilogy substitutes Bryce Dallas Howard for Nicole Kidman and a Southern plantation for the mountain town full of cruel exploiters. Same cultural cluelessness though. THANK YOU FOR SMOKING: Aaron Eckhart plays the chief spokesman for Big Tobacco who enlists a Hollywood super-agent (Rob Lowe) to promote smoking in movies. The film, based on Christopher Buckley's very funny novel, elicited a bidding war after it was screened at the Toronto film fest. With William H. Macy, Robert Duvall and Katie Holmes.
