It's the first day of practice and Davis is still steaming from his frat-like initiation into the Sky-Em League last year as the Elmira Falcons' sophomore starting quarterback. "They should've had another year in JV, but I had no choice." Davis admitted he tried to do too much at times last season, which often led to turnovers. He believes he has matured. Junior Carlos Real should be Davis' top option at wide receiver, and senior Cody Smith will lead both lines. After a year in the system, Miller wants to open up the playbook for Davis. "Last year he struggled with with his decision-making, when to throw it away or when to take a sack, things a young kid struggles with," Miller said. "This year it's a night-and-day difference. He's our team leader. He's in the weight room every day and he's worked hard ... I tried to keep it simple (for Davis) last year, but this year it's going to be quite a bit more complex with the passing system, and he's ready for it." Expectations are tempered some by a lack of depth.
