COMIC BOOK SUPERHERO COMES TO AID OF UNITED NATIONS FORCES IN SOMALIA VIA NEW PRIME(TM) COMICS

LOS ANGELES, June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- When comic book fans pick up Prime(TM), the newest superhero from Malibu Comics Entertainment Inc., they'll find him in the midst of an international conflict: Somalia.
When the editors and writers set out to create "Ultraverse(TM)" -- a whole new world which is the setting for 13 upcoming Malibu comic books, of which Prime is in the first group of releases -- they wanted to make it believable, as evidenced by the four-page Somalia-based storyline in the premiere issue.
"This new line of comics, unlike other comics out there, is taking timely events in the real world and dealing with them on a realistic basis," Malibu President Scott Rosenberg said.
Prime is the average indestructible superhero, complete with incredibly bulging muscles ... and a twist: Inside the superhero body is a 13-year-old boy.
Like any boy who's ever dreamed of being indestructible, Prime decides to use his new-found powers for good. One of his first-imposed assignments is Somalia, where terrorists have blockaded a United Nations convoy carrying food supplies.
Prime is written by Gerard Jones and Len Strazewski.
"We're trying to make the character a contemporary teenager," Jones said. "We want to reflect what teenagers are doing and thinking about today."
Rosenberg added: "Obviously, our first priority is to entertain, and we're not setting out to preach. Nevertheless, we do see an important and exciting opportunity with this and other titles to introduce reality into the fantasy world of comics."
Prime No. 1 is on sale now.
