COMGATES CHOOSES TIMESTEN TO ENHANCE MULTI-PROTOCOL SOFTSWITCH.

TimesTen Performance Software has announced that COMGATES Ltd has selected TimesTen's real-time data management software for integration within its multi-protocol CSSW4000 Softswitch. The TimesTen(R) in-memory database was selected by COMGATES for its ability to provide increased call throughput, with performance ten times greater than that of a traditional relational database.

The COMGATES Softswitch serves as a bridge between the traditional Public Switched Telephony Networks (PSTN) and next generation IP Networks. By incorporating TimesTen, COMGATES can now offer carriers increased call throughput and more rapid monitoring of call data. With its built-in ability to route calls in real-time across a variety of IP and PSTN protocols and networks, the CSSW4000 Softswitch enables carriers to handle multiple protocols, while preserving their investment in existing networks.

TimesTen's industry-standard ODBC Application Programming Interface (API) enabled COMGATES to deploy TimesTen quickly and easily, speeding time-to-market for its Softswitch solution.

"The CSSW4000 Softswitch enables both incumbent and next-generation carriers to offer services to their users across a broad range of IP and PSTN protocols, without having to worry about inter-operability," said Danny Bukshpan, chief technology officer and co-founder of COMGATES Ltd. "With the TimesTen solution, our Softswitch can deliver the real-time responsiveness and the high call throughput carriers require."

"The transition to all-IP networks means added complexity for carriers. COMGATES is leading the way with technology that increases network inter-operability, thus enabling carriers to offer expanded services on a more cost-efficient basis," said James R Groff, CEO of TimesTen Performance Software. "TimesTen is the perfect complement to COMGATES' solutions, providing greater throughput, scalability and faster time-to-market."
