COME FOR HOLIDAY MEAL THANKSGIVING DINNERS OFFERED TO NEEDY.

PALMDALE - Hundreds of the elderly, the poor and the lonely will be treated to Thanksgiving meals Wednesday and Thursday thanks to staff and volunteers at senior centers, charities and churches.

For people who want to help the less fortunate at Thanksgiving, Adelphia cable and Clear Channel radio personality Mitchell Chase and his three sons are in a supermarket parking lot this weekend collecting food for the needy.

The food drive runs through 9 a.m. Monday in front of the Albertsons supermarket at Tierra Subida and Palmdale Boulevard.

The sixth annual food drive is collecting nonperishable food for Grace Resource Center, the Antelope Valley Domestic Violence Shelter, the Lancaster Homeless Shelter and South Antelope Valley Emergency Services.

Among local Thanksgiving dinners:

--Grace Resource Center will provide 350 hot meals to homeless, single-parent families and the unemployed from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday at the center, 45134 Sierra Highway.

Hot meals are also available year-round at the center from 1:30-3 p.m. Sundays; 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays; and 6-7 p.m. Fridays. Meals are also available 6-7 p.m. Thursdays at Tamarisk School, 1843 E. Ave. Q-5 in Palmdale.

--The annual Bill Schuster Senior Citizen Free Thanksgiving Dinner for seniors age 55 and over will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Palmdale Elks Lodge, 2705 E. Ave. Q.

Dinner can be purchased for $5 for adults under age 55 and $3 for children under age 12.

Invalid seniors may ask for dinners to be delivered to their homes. Delivery will be from 1 to 4 p.m.

The dinner has been offered for nearly 20 years, put on by by the family of Bill Schuster, a late lodge leader, with financial support from the lodge.

--The 19th annual Free Thanksgiving Dinner sponsored by Acton Foursquare Christian Fellowship will be held noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Acton Community Club, 3748 W. Nickels Ave. For more information, call [phone].

--The Antelope Valley Senior Center, 777 W. Jackman St., will host a luncheon Wednesday for seniors age 60 and older at 11:30 a.m. For more information, call [phone].

--The Palmdale Senior Center, 1002 E. Ave. Q-12, will host a luncheon Wednesday for seniors age 55 and up. The musical program ``A Historical Journey Through America's Music'' begins at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. Reservations are not required for the party, but they are required for lunch.
