) announced today that COMDEX The former, premier computer trade show in the U.S. Although it grew into an end user event, it was originally created for dealers and distributors (it was the COMputer Dealers EXposition).  Canada 2001 will create a comprehensive experience for buyers and sellers with a new format that provides valuable resources to help buyers increase profitability and achieve business initiatives. As part of the transformation of the worldwide COMDEX brand, COMDEX Canada 2001 will focus on educating buyers on technology purchasing decisions (in conference sessions), creating a marketplace segmented by technology (in the exhibit hall) and providing a forum for technology experts to communicate their visions of the industry (via keynotes, special guests and SuperSessions). COMDEX Canada 2001 will take place July 11-13, 2001 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre Metro Toronto Convention Centre, located in Downtown Toronto, Ontario at 255 Front Street West, has 600,000 square feet of space. The convention centre was completed in October 1984 and is home to the 1330 seat John Bassett Theatre, currently used for Canadian Idol. .

Marketplace Segmented by Technology

To enhance the exchange of information between sellers and buyers, COMDEX Canada 2001 has related Conference Programs to Technology Zones (buyers' companies have an average annual IT budget of $8.7 million, according to the COMDEX Canada 2000 Attendee Survey). The new, segmented floor plan focuses buyers and directs them to the technology solutions of interest. The six technology zones include Software Platforms and Solutions, Digital Imaging and Publishing, WebWorks, NetWorld+Interop, Information Appliances and IT Services.

He is also the chancellor of the University of Waterloo, and an Officer of the Order of Canada. , president and co-CEO of Research in Motion kicks off COMDEX Canada 2001 with the opening-day keynote on Wednesday, July 11; followed by Frank Clegg, president of Microsoft Canada Co. on Thursday, July 12. Finally, Dr. Carl S. Ledbetter, chief technology officer and senior vice president of business and corporate development of Novell will wrap up COMDEX Canada 2001 on Friday, July 13.

Continuing the COMDEX Canada tradition of providing attendees with leaders from around the world, the Honorable Jesse Ventura, Governor of the State of Minnesota, will be the special guest for the afternoon general session on Wednesday, July 11.
