REPORTS APRIL OVERALL LISTING ACTIVITY INCREASES
LOS ANGELES, May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Overall listing activity increased 9.9 percent from April last year and rose 1.9 percent on a monthly basis. New listings decreased 14.9 percent from April 1991 and fell 2.5 percent from last month for all types of properties under the Combined L.A. Westside (CLAW) Multiple Listing Service, as reported Wednesday by the Los Angeles Board of Realtors(R) Inc.
Single-family home sales declined 19.2 percent from April 1991, with a median price of $530,071 on 370 sales closing escrow, compared to 458 last year, with a median price of $554,857.
April condominium sales numbered 171, an increase of 22.1 percent from last month, but declined 25.7 percent from April of last year. The April 1992 median price was $255,929, compared to $254,657 last month and $268,928 a year ago.
The board is seeing an overall decrease in price for single-family homes throughout the Los Angeles area. This could be because of the large number of homes currently on the market and might indicate that sellers are pricing their homes more competitively.
Gregory J. Pawlik, GRI, president of the Los Angeles Board of Realtors Inc., stated that "Los Angeles is no longer seeing the double- digit percentage increases in single-family homes prices we saw some years ago, rather we are experiencing percentages more in line with the rest of the country.
