COLUMBIA GAS TRANSMISSION CORPORATION GRANTED ADDITIONAL TIME TO FILE BANKRUPTCY REORGANIZATION PLAN

 COLUMBIA GAS TRANSMISSION CORPORATION GRANTED
ADDITIONAL TIME TO FILE BANKRUPTCY REORGANIZATION PLAN
WILMINGTON, Del., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware today extended until July 28, 1992, the period during which Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation has the exclusive right to file a Chapter 11 reorganization plan. The current exclusive rights period would have expired today.
The extension was granted to allow Columbia Transmission time to analyze the large number of claims which have been filed against the company and to resolve pending issues with its creditors.
The court had previously continued to a later date consideration of a motion by Columbia Gas Transmission proposing the establishment of an expedited procedure to quantify and cap claims in excess of $50,000. Columbia said discussions with creditors with respect to this matter are ongoing.
A motion by Columbia Gas Transmission to pay certain pre-petition property taxes was continued until June 11, 1992, the next regularly scheduled bankruptcy hearing date.
Both Columbia Transmission and its parent company, The Columbia Gas System, Inc., (NYSE: CG) have been operating as debtors in possession under Chapter 11 of the Federal Bankruptcy Code since July 31, 1991.
