COLUMBIA GAS COMPANIES SEEK EXTENSION OF DEADLINE
 TO FILE REORGANIZATION PLANS
WILMINGTON, Del., July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The Columbia Gas System, Inc. (NYSE: CG) and Columbia Gas Transmission Corp., its principal pipeline subsidiary, today asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware to extend the period during which they have the exclusive rights to file reorganization plans to Nov. 25, 1992.
The current exclusivity period for both companies expires July 28.
The two companies have been operating as debtors in possession under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code since July 31, 1991.
Company officials said the extension will provide time to analyze the more than 14,000 claims filed by creditors and to continue negotiations with creditors aimed at resolving fundamental issues and formulating consensual reorganization plans.
