COLORADO TRAGEDY PUSHES NEWS UP, OTHER SHOWS DOWN IN RATINGS.

Six network newsmagazines, all of them with reports on the Colorado school massacre, were among the 12 top-rated prime-time shows measured by Nielsen Media Research during the past week.

The newsmagazines responded quickly with stories on the Littleton shooting, and viewers apparently couldn't get enough.

ABC's ``20/20'' on Wednesday had more viewers than any other newsmagazine, and had its highest ratings of the year except for the Monica Lewinsky Monica Samille Lewinsky (born July 23, 1973) is an American woman with whom the former United States President Bill Clinton admitted (after initially denying) to having had an "inappropriate relationship"[1] while Lewinsky worked at the White House in 1995 and 1996.  interview.

The most popular show of the week was a new episode of NBC's comedy, ``Friends.'' ABC's drama ``The Practice'' had its second-highest rating in the history of the show.

NBC's ``Nightly News'' did well during a busy news week, scoring its largest margin of victory over the ``CBS Evening News'' in more than two years. NBC had an 8.2 rating and 18 share, while CBS was at 6.5 and 14. ABC's ``World News Tonight'' was second with a 7.9 rating and 17 share.

A rating point represents 994,000 households, or 1 percent of the nation's estimated 99.4 million TV homes. The share is the percentage of in-use televisions tuned to a given show.
