COLORADO EXECUTIVE TO JOIN FIRST BANK SYSTEM BOARD

 MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- First Bank System, Inc. (NYSE: FBS) today announced that Richard L. Robinson will be elected to the board of directors of First Bank System at the January meeting. Robinson, who currently is chairman and chief executive officer of Robinson Dairy, Inc., in Denver, served on the board of Western Capital Investment Corp. of Denver. FBS completed its acquisition of Western Capital, which owned Bank Western, a Federal Savings Bank with $2.5 billion in assets, on Dec. 18.
 First Bank System chairman, president and chief executive officer John F. Grundhofer said, "Colorado businesses and community interests will be well represented by Dick's participation on our board. We are delighted that someone with his career experience and extensive civic involvement can make the time available to us. Upon completion of our merger with Colorado National, we will have three directors from Colorado on our board, which is indicative of our commitment to the state and its importance to First Bank System."
 As previously announced, Colorado National Bankshares' chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer, Will F. Nicolson, Jr. and Nicholas R. Petry, president of Petry Company will join the FBS board. That merger is pending regulatory and shareholder approvals and is expected to close mid-year 1993.
 In 1991, Robinson was awarded the Colorado Business Community for the Arts Award and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Social Responsibility Award. In 1989, he was the recipient of the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry Business Leader of the Year Award and the Lory Award from Colorado State University. In 1988 and 1987 respectively, Robinson received the Boy Scout Silver Beaver Award in recognition of his distinguished service to youth and the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry Business of the Year Award. Robinson, who has served on the board of trustees of the AMC-Cancer Research Center & Hospital in Denver since 1956, was the recipient of their Humanitarian Award in 1976 and in 1987, the center named their new building, the "Richard L. Robinson Family Finance & Administration Center." He received the National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine Distinguished Humanitarian Award in 1986.
 His current board memberships include the Anti-Defamation League; the Denver Arts Museum; the Milk Industry Foundation in Washington, D.C.; the Mountain States Employers Council; the Rose Medical Center; the Boy Scouts of America, Denver Area Council; the Denver Entrepreneurship Academy; the Colorado Business Coalition for Health; the Colorado Alliance for Business; Asset Investors, Inc.; Mile High United Way; Regis University and Children's Hospital.
