It also signed a supplemental agreement with the 4,000-member faculty union detailing members' rights to intellectual property. All four unions previously approved the contracts. Wednesday's ratification caps nearly a year of negotiations with the district's second-largest union, the American Federation of Teachers American Federation of Teachers (AFT), an affiliate of the AFL-CIO. It was formed (1916) out of the belief that the organizing of teachers should follow the model of a labor union, rather than that of a professional association. College Staff Guild, which represents about 1,000 technicians, secretaries, and other technical and support employees. Under the three-year contract, the guild will receive a 5.67 percent raise this year on top of a 3 percent raise retroactive to July 1999, the first year of the agreement.
