Northridge men lose: Dominitrix Johnson scored 16 points, 12 of them on 4-of-7 three-point shooting, and Boo Richardson added 15 as Illinois State beat visiting Cal State-Northridge 66-44.

Anthony Slack chipped in 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds for the Redbirds (2-2), who managed 27points off CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge  turnovers. Richardson was 6 for 7 from the foul line.

The Matadors (4-2) were led by 14 points from Calvin Chitwood. Jayme Miller added 10 off the bench, the team's only other player in double figures, before fouling out with 1:43 to go in the game.

A 12-5 run by the Matadors to end the contest made little difference after Illinois State took a 36-16 advantage into halftime and only built on it, leading by as many as 29points with 5:15 left.

The Redbirds set a new home record by holding the Matadors to the lowest field-goal percentage by an opponent (25.9) and tied the record for fewest field goals made by a visiting team (14).

UCLA tops Pepperdine: The UCLA women's volleyball team beat Pepperdine 30-25, 26-30, 26-30, 30-24, 15-5.

Nana Meriwether had 18 kills and 11 blocks, Katie Carter had 15 kills, Ali Daley and Kaitlin Sather both added 13 kills, Nellie Spicer recorded 64 assists and eight blocks, and Colby Lyman had a career-high 24 digs for UCLA (27-3).
