COLLEGES: UCLA SIXTH IN MEN'S GOLF TOURNEY.

UCLA moved into a sixth-place tie after the second round of the NCAA men's golf championships Thursday in Williamsburg, Va.

The Bruins improved three shots from their first-round score, posting an even-par 280 and had a two-round score of 3-over 563.

They trailed first-place Stanford (7-under 553) by 10 shots.

The Bruins are tied with Georgia Tech.

Following today's round, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams.

Individually, USC sophomore Tom Glissmeyer is the highest local on the leader board, tied for eighth after shooting a second-round 1-under 69 for a total of 3-under 137.

As a team, USC is tied for 22nd at 15-over 575.

SOFTBALL

Two Bruins named to second team: UCLA senior second baseman Lisa Dodd and junior outfielder Krista Colburn were both named second-team All-Americans by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Colburn led the Bruins in batting with her .382 average, in runs scored with 50 and in hits (66). She also hit seven home runs and drove in 32 runs this season.

Dodd led the Bruins with 14home runs, 49 RBIs and a slugging percentage of .694 and was second on the Bruins with a .369 batting average and 59 hits.

BASEBALL

Enright named to All-America third team: Pepperdine junior Barry Enright was named a third-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball, the publication announced.

The right-hander is 12-4 with a 1.73 ERA in 17 starts.
