COLLEGES: MURPHY LEADS USC PAST WASHINGTON.

Shay Murphy scored 25 points to lead the USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  women's basketball team to a 76-54 victory Sunday over Washington at Galen Center.

Chloe Kerr scored 15 points and Jamie Hagiya added 12 for the Trojans (13-8, 7-4 Pac-10). Cameo Hicks and Jill Bell each scored 13 points and Dominique Banks added 12 for the Huskies (13-9, 6-5).

BASEBALL

Cal State Northridge 9, UNLV UNLV University of Nevada, Las Vegas  4: Edwin Quirarte allowed three runs on sevenhits in six innings and John Parham ended CSUN's 20-inning homer drought with a second-inning blast as the Matadors (2-1) won at home.

WOMEN'S TENNIS

USC 6, Pepperdine 1: The Trojans won a match that was postponed from Saturday because of rain. USC improved to 2-0, while the Waves are 2-1.

TRACK AND FIELD

Cal State Northridge senior Shauna Hackett finished tied for first in one of two finals of the 60 meters with a time of 7.63 seconds at the University of Washington Indoor Invitational at Seattle. Sophomore Jere Summers won the shot put with a mark of 14.98 meters.

For the CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge  men, Rolando Felizola was second in the triple jump (15.24 meters) and Justin Johnson was third in the heptathlon heptathlon: see under decathlon.

Women's athletics competition. Contestants take part in seven different track-and-field events: 100-m hurdles, shot put, high jump, long jump, javelin throw, and 200- and 800-m runs.
