COLLEGES: MURPHY'S 3-POINTER LIFTS USC TO VICTORY.

Shay Murphy's 3-pointer with 2.1 seconds left gave USC a 68-65 comeback victory against host Oregon State in Pacific-10 Conference women's basketball Thursday.

The Trojans (14-8 overall, 8-4 Pac-10) erased an 11-point deficit with eight minutes remaining. Murphy had a team-high 24 points and eight rebounds. Jamie Hagiya added 11 points for the Trojans.

Casey Nash, the Pac-10's leading scorer, had a game-high 27 points for Oregon State (8-12, 3-8), and teammate Mercedes Fox-Griffin added 18points, six assists and four steals.

Oregon 76, UCLA 60: Tamika Nurse had 22 points and three other Ducks scored in double figures.

Carolyn Ganes added 14 points for host Oregon (12-9, 4-7 Pac-10), which shot 52 percent from the field in the second half to pull away.

UCLA (12-12, 6-6), who had its three-game winning streak snapped, was led by Noelle Quinn's 16 points. The Bruins shot 12 for 31 (39 percent) in both halves.

Cal State Northridge 74, Long Beach State 60: Ofa Tulikihihifo paced four Matadors in double figures with 16points, and LaJoyce King added a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds to lead host CSUN (10-11, 6-2 BigWest) to the victory.

No. 8 Northwestern 5, No. 14 UCLA 2: The Bruins suffered their first loss of the season in the opening round of the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Madison, Wis.
