USC's women's tennis team had an impressive first day at the Pacific-10 Conference Championships at the 107th Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament on Thursday, with Anca Anastasiu, Sarah Fansler and Lindsey Nelson all advancing to the quarterfinals.

But it was the one that got away that left everyone talking. Sophomore Amanda Fink, a former Calabasas High standout who reached the Pac-10 final last year, was up a set and a service break against top-seed and defending NCAA NCAA

 singles champion Susie Babos of Cal, but couldn't pull off the upset, falling 1-6, 6-4, 6-3.
