COLLEGES: CSUN DECATHLETE SETS SCHOOL RECORD.Byline: Daily News Cal State Northridge senior Justin Johnson scored 3,439 points on the second and final day Thursday of the decathlon decathlon (dĭkăth`lŏn), in modern Olympic games, a contest for men held over two days and composed of 10 track-and-field events. at the 81st Clyde Littlefield Clyde Littlefield (October 6, 1892 to May 20, 1981) was the head football coach at The University of Texas from 1927 to 1933. During his seven-year tenure, he compiled a 44-18-6 record and won two Southwest Conference championships. Texas Relays The Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays are an annual track and field competition held at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas. The University of Texas serves as host for the event, held on either the first or second weekend of April. at the University of Texas to break the 26-year school decathlon record. Johnson's two-day total of 7,473 points breaks Ken Terry's decathlon total of 7,424 points in 1982. Johnson also shattered his previous lifetime-best total of 7,135 points set at the 2006 Big West Championships. Johnson's record-setting total came within 27 points of an NCAA NCAA abbr. National Collegiate Athletic Association automatic qualifying score (7,500). Junior Morgan Bogard finished seventh in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 182 feet, 4 inches.In the men's hammer, junior Cody Pearce finished 11th with a throw of 188-5. |
