Chappell won medalist honors by firing a final round 3-under 69, despite a double-bogey at the 16th hole. Chappell's 54-hole total of 214 was 2 under. He beat Vanderbilt's Jon Curran by a stroke and Coastal Carolina's Dustin Johnson, the 16th-ranked player in the country, by two shots. Last May, Chappell won the NCAA NCAA abbr. National Collegiate Athletic Association East Regional title at Lake Nona GC in Orlando, Fla. As a team, the Bruins finished in a tie for fourth place at 899 (+35) with Central Florida and Alabama-Birmingham.
