Fansler, a 12th-seeded freshman, became the sixth Trojan to win the women's competition in eight years, defeating UCLA's Yasmin Schnack 6-1, 6-4 in San Diego. Fansler and Dianne Matias face teammates Anca Anastasiu and Julie Smekodub in Thursday's doubles final at USC. USC freshman Katja Decker-Sadowski lost in the consolation singles final 6-2, 6-4 to Hawaii's Sabita Maharaj-Walkup. |
