 baseball team lost to California 16-0 in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

The Bruins (27-19, 12-3 Pac-10) hold a one-game lead over Arizona State in the Pac-10 standings.

Left-hander Gavin Brooks (3-6) absorbed the loss, allowing seven runs off 10 hits in 3 1/3 innings.

California left-hander Craig Bennigson (4-3) pitched eightscoreless innings, allowing five hits while striking out six and walking two.

UCLA third baseman Jermaine Curtis finished 2 for 3.

California (24-24, 8-10 Pac-10) had 20 hits and was led offensively by catcher Charlie Cutler and center fielder Taylor Grigsby, who each went 3 for 5.
