The conference participates in the NCAA's Division I. championship match - Midwest Region champ Ohio State and Penn State, winners of the East Region. The NCAA Tournament is Thursday and Saturday at Fort Wayne, Ind. UCLA, ranked No. 3 in the nation last week, plays No. 15 Penn State in Thursday's first semifinal. Ohio State, ranked No. 4, and Pepperdine, ranked No. 2, meet in the second match. The Bruins were the surprise winners of the MPSF MPSF Mountain Pacific Sports Federation title, which figured to be a battle between Long Beach State, USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code. and Pepperdine. The 49ers and Trojans had been ranked No. 1 in the country for most of the season, but both lost in the MPSF tournament.
