``This is just fun,'' Stanford coach John Dunning said. ``This is why people practice hard and sweat, to play in a great facility, in front of a great crowd, against a great team. It's even more exciting to come out with a win.''

A couple of former Southern California high school standouts, Cynthia Barboza (Long Beach Wilson) and Jessica Fishburn (Brentwood), used their homecoming to upstage USC (17-1, 6-1 in Pac-10) in front of an estimated crowd of 5,000, which packed the lower section of the 10,258-seat facility.

Barboza had a match-high 18kills, Fishburn contributed 12 digs and All-American outside hitter Kristin Richards added 10 kills and seven digs for Stanford (14-2, 5-1), which faces No. 3 UCLA UCLA University of California at Los Angeles
