Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties.  will present a hippie musical, dance concert and a play for children in its 1997-98 theater season.

The college theater department will begin its season Oct. 31 with the love-rock musical ``Hair,'' with book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado James Radomski (born 1932, stage name James Rado, business name James Radomicki), is an American actor, writer and composer, best known as the co-author, along with Gerome Ragni, of the groundbreaking 1960s rock musical Hair.  and music by Galt MacDermot Galt MacDermot (born 18 December 1928 in Montreal, Quebec) is a Canadian pianist, composer and writer of musical theatre. He was educated at Upper Canada College and Bishop's University (Sherbrooke, Quebec). .

Performances will be held on campus Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 7 p.m. through Nov. 16.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for those 17 and younger.

People under age 17 will be admitted only if accompanied by an adult because the show contains explicit language and adult situations, college spokesman Steve Standerfer said.

The Theater for Young Audiences presentation of ``The Miracle Worker'' is set to be performed at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center at 8 p.m. May 1 and 2, and at 2 p.m. May 3, Standerfer said.

Four school performances also will be held April 29 through May 1, he said.

The classic drama, written by William Gibson (person) William Gibson - Author of cyberpunk novels such as Neuromancer (1984), Count Zero (1986), Mona Lisa Overdrive, and Virtual Light (1993).

In addition for the 1997-98 season, student playwrights will be showcased in the ``Original One-Act Festival'' at 8 p.m. May 22 and 23, and at 7 p.m. May 24, at the campus Blackbox Theater.

The season will conclude with ``You Can't Take It With You'' July 17-19 and July 24-26.

Show times are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Season subscribers can see all shows for only $37.50, which is a savings of $18 off of individual show prices.
