drove in Chris Cosbey with the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Pepperdine baseball team rallied for a 4-3 nonconference victory over Cal State Northridge Friday afternoon in Malibu.

Cosbey singled to lead off the ninth and advanced to second on an errant pickoff throw before Oder's game-winning hit.

Freshman Jay Adams (2-1) pitched the ninth inning for the win. Paul Avery started for Pepperdine (6-9-1) and went eight innings, giving up eight hits and three runs. Cosbey, Oder and Jared Pitney each doubled for the Waves.

Northridge jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the fifth inning, when Nakia Hill hit his second home run of the day. Kevin Patrick also homered for the Matadors (11-10).

Final home game: The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team on Saturday will battle Idaho State for a No. 3 seeding in next week's Big Sky Tournament.

The Matadors (13-12, 9-6) earned a berth in the six-team tourney with a 62-60 road victory against Weber State last week, in which freshman guard Edniesha Curry scored a school-record 36 points.

Despite an 80-52 loss at Northern Arizona on Thursday, the Matadors are still optimistic. This year's 13 wins matches the total of their previous four seasons.

USC 6, UCLA 1 Seth Etherton stuck out 10 while giving up one earned run in 8-2/3 innings to lead the Trojans (12-3, 3-1) past the visiting Bruins (7-9, 2-4). USC third baseman Morgan Ensberge went 2 for 3 with two RBI.
