Shay Murphy scored 18points to lead the USC women's basketball team to a 65-47 victory over Washington State on Friday at Galen Center.

It was the 250th career win for USC head coach Mark Trakh.

Jamie Hagiya had 16 points and six steals and Allison Jaskowiak added 10 for the Women of Troy (12-8, 6-4 Pac-10).

UCLA 73, Washington 67: Noelle Quinn scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Bruins (11-11, 5-5 Pac-10) at Pauley Pavilion.

Lindsey Pluimer scored 12 points, Amanda Livingston added 11, and Tierra Henderson had 10 points for UCLA.

The Bruins shot 81.5 percent (22 for 27) from the foul line.

MEN'S SWIMMING

Cal 170, UCLA 110: Mihaly Flaskay swept the breaststroke races and Kenny Jenkins won the springboard diving events for the visiting Trojans (5-1, 3-1 Pac-10).

MEN'S TENNIS

USC 7, San Diego State 0: The Trojans' No. 3 Dejan Cvetkovic clinched the match with a 7-6 (3), 6-2 win over Anthony Gomez as USC improved its dual-match record to 3-0.

UCLA 7, BYU 0: Chris Surapol, who has been limited to doubles play because of injuries, looked solid in his return to the singles lineup, beating BYU's Christian Hand, 6-1, 6-2, to help the host Bruins (3-0).

WOMEN'S TENNIS

Pepperdine 6, UC Irvine 1: After losing the first set to Clare Fermin, Katia Sabate rebounded with 6-3, 6-4 wins to give the Waves (2-0) the final point of the match.

BASEBALL

UNLV 10, CSUN 4: C.J. Belanger had three hits, but the Matadors lost their regular-season opener at home.
