COLLEGE ROUNDUP: TROJANS BASEBALL GAME POSTPONED.

The top two teams in the nation will try again today at noon in a rescheduled doubleheader at USC. On Friday, Jody Gerut's seventh-inning home run gave Stanford a 1-0 victory in the series opener at USC. Seth Etherton had a career-high 15 strikeouts in the loss, his first defeat in 13 games dating to last season.

UCLA defeated California 15-5 on Friday.

Cal State Northridge (23-17) beat the rain Saturday to stretch its winning streak to 11 games with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Cal Poly Pomona. Left-hander Jose Vasquez struck out a season-high 12 batters in six innings of the opener, a 4-2 Matadors victory.

According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  and Valley beat the rain for half of their scheduled South Division doubleheader at Valley. The visiting Cougars scored a 12-3 win in the first game. The teams were in a scoreless tie through three innings of the second when rain forced a postponement.
