Byline: Scott French Staff Writer

The area's best college soccer teams - UCLA's men and women, Cal State Northridge's men - are heading toward the postseason, and possible conference championships, with impressive streaks.

UCLA's seventh-ranked men's team, its defense anchored by U.S. U-20 national-teamers Jordan Harvey Jordan Harvey (born January 28, 1984 in Mission Viejo, California) is an American soccer player, who currently plays for the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer. , Patrick Ianni Patrick Ianni (born April 15, 1985 in Lodi, California) is an American soccer defender / defensive midfielder, who currently plays for the Houston Dynamo of the Major League Soccer.  and Marvell Wynne, has posted five successive shutouts while taking command of the Pacific-10 Conference race.

The Bruins (10-3-2 overall, 5-1-1 Pac-10) hold a four-point lead on California (11-3-1, 4-3-0) and Oregon State (8-7-4, 4-5-0) with three Pac-10 games to play. They have 12 shutouts in all and completed their eight-game Drake Stadium regular-season schedule without surrendering a goal.

Kamani Hill scored both goals in 1-0 wins last weekend over Oregon State and Washington.

UCLA's women (15-1-2, 5-0-2 Pac-10), ranked fourth, have posted six successive shutouts and lead the Pac-10 by a point over California (12-3-2, 5-1-1), which they beat 2-1 Friday in Berkeley. The Bruins, led by defender Jill Oakes (Harvard-Westlake of Studio City) and midfielder Danesha Adams (14 goals), have surrendered only six goals and recorded 13 shutouts.

They're riding a 659-minute shutout streak - they haven't permitted a goal since USC's Nini Loucks (Canyon of Canyon Country) tallied in the 28th minute of UCLA's 3-2 overtime win Oct. 7. The Bruins' only loss this season was in overtime to Penn State, which is ranked No. 1.
