James Lischer, who was named to the all-tournament team, had a team- high seven kills. Eric Vance had six kills and Sean Pederson added 26 assists, eight digs and a block in the Matadors' loss.

Jayson Jabonsky, the 2006 National Player of the Year, had 16 kills and Matt Webber had 18 for the Anteaters.

CSUN (1-1) will play UC Santa Barbara at 4 p.m. today for third.

MEN'S SWIMMING

USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  141, UC Santa Barbara 118: Joon Youm won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 57.41 seconds to help the Trojans defeat the host Gauchos in a nonconference meet.

Seniors Gergely Mezaros and Viktor Bodrogi also won individual events for USC. Mezaros took the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.53, and Bodrogi finished first in the 100-yard backstroke with the time of 1:48.84.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING

USC 149, UC Santa Barbara 111: Rebecca Soni won two events for the Trojans in the nonconference victory over the Gauchos.

Soni, a sophomore, won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2 minutes, 17.03 seconds and the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:24.15. Teammate Katy Houston finished second behind Soni in both races.

Shannon Hackett won the lone individual event, the 400-yard freestyle, clocking 4minutes, 34.64 seconds.

The Bruins also captured the 200 medley, 400 freestyle, 500breaststroke, 500 butterfly and 600 medley relays.

Amanda Blong was victorious in the 1-meter diving competition, scoring 169.25 points, and Sara Clark won the 3-meter event with 191.25 points for No. 14 UCLA.

WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS

UCLA 194, Washington 188.175: Senior Michelle Selesky won the floor exercise with a career-high 9.9 and took third on the vault with a personal-best 9.825 to help the Bruins win their season opener at Pauley Pavilion.

Freshman Anna Li recorded the top all-around score with a 39.0, including a victory on the uneven parallel bars uneven parallel bars
