COLLEGE ROUNDUP: CANYONS' REDMOND WINS FIRST WSC GOLF EVENT.

Ashley Redmond, who last fall helped Hart High of Newhall reach the Southern Section girls' golf championship, enjoyed a solid collegiate debut Monday, winning the first Western State Conference women's match of the season.

Redmond, a freshman for College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation. , shot a 2-under 70 at Buenaventura Golf Course in Ventura. She finished two strokes ahead of Santa Barbara Santa Barbara (săn'tə bär`brə, –bərə), city (1990 pop. 85,571), seat of Santa Barbara co., S Calif., on the Pacific Ocean; inc. 1850.  City College's Victoria Alimonda.

Moorpark Ann Marie Mair was fourth, 11 shots off the lead.
