After dominating the opposition for half a season, the Bruins (16-1, 10-1) didn't resemble anything close to a No. 1 team Friday. The Cougars (9-1 in conference) took the early lead in each game and proceeded to show UCLA what it's like to be on the other end of a one-sided contest.

BYU coach Carl McGown was as surprised as anyone at the ease with which the Cougars won.

``Of course there's no way you'd ever imagine you'd ever come in and beat up UCLA,'' he said. Lancaster product Ryan Millar did most of the damage for BYU. The junior middle blocker tied for a team-high 22 kills. Millar and middle blocker Shane Van Beest, who had 10 blocks, led the Cougars defensively at the net. Despite a notable height disadvantage, BYU out-blocked UCLA 19-4.58.
