COLLEGE ROUNDUP: ARIZONA ON TOP IN NCAA WOMEN'S GOLF.

Arizona leads the 24-team field in the NCAA Women's Golf Championships after a 3-under 285 in the opening round Tuesday at Washington National Golf Club in Auburn Washington.

Pepperdine is tied for 13th place with Arizona State and Michigan, shooting a 13-over 301. USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  is in 21st with a 19-over 307 and UCLA UCLA University of California at Los Angeles
UCLA University Center for Learning Assistance (Illinois State University)
UCLA University of Carrollton, TX and Lower Addison, TX
 is in last place with a 26-over-par 314.

Individually, Duke's Virada Nirapathpongporn leads all players with a 4-under 68. Pepperdine's Lindsey Wright is tied for third with six others after shooting a 2-under 70.

UCLA's Melissa Martina and USC's Mikaela Parmlid are tied for 19th place after shooting a 1-over 73. Katherine Hull of Pepperdine shot a 2-over 74 and is tied for 30th.

Pepperdine's Crystal Fanning and USC's Becky Lucidi, Anna Rawson and Yon Yim are tied for 84th place at 6-over 78. UCLA's Yvonne Choe shot a 7-over 79, as did Pepperdine's Rachel Kyono, to tie for 94th place.

UCLA's Charlotte Mayorkas, Alicia Um and Gina Umeck all shot a 9-over 81 to tie for 112th place. Maria C. Arenas of Pepperdine is tied for 120th place after shooting a 10-over 82.

In college baseball:

--Cal. St. Fullerton 7, UCLA 6: The host Bruins (26-31) lost a nonconference game, which was played after UCLA protested a May 21 game in which the Titans batted out of order.

--Finalists announced: UCLA's Robin Beauregard, USC's Sofia Konoukh and Stanford's have been selected by a national vote of coaches as finalists for the Peter J. Cutino Award The Peter J. Cutino Award, named after former college water polo player and legendary UC Berkeley coach Peter J. Cutino, is considered the most prestigious individual award in American collegiate water polo.  for Outstanding Female Water Polo player for 2002. The award will be presented June 8, 2002 at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.

Beauregard, a junior center defender, has 28 goals, 20 assists, 28 steals. She was a first-team all-tournament selection for both the NCAA NCAA
abbr.
National Collegiate Athletic Association
 and Mountain Pacific Sports Federation The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation is a college athletic conference whose member teams are located in the western United States. The conference participates in the NCAA's Division I.  championships.

Konoukh, a senior, was the MPSF MPSF Mountain Pacific Sports Federation  Player of the Year after leading the Trojans with 70 goals on the season. She also earned tournament MVP (Multimedia Video Processor) A high-speed DSP chip from Texas Instruments, introduced in 1994. Officially introduced as the TMS320C80, it combines RISC technology with the functionality of four DSPs on one chip.  honors.
