If Pepperdine and UCLA win their sub-regionals, they would meet in the Central Region semifinals. USC could also earn a Central Region semifinal spot. The Trojans (20-8), seeded fourth, play Hofstra (26-5), and 20th-ranked Minnesota (25-8) meets Cal State Sacramento (22-9). The winners play for a regional semifinal berth. Dates and times were not available at press time. Loyola Marymount (19-10) plays Southeast Missouri State (28-5) at UC Santa Barbara in a Pacific sub-regional. The No. 8 Gauchos (26-5), one of only four teams to qualify for every NCAA Tournament since 1981, plays Oral Roberts (23-12). Penn State, ranked No. 1 in the nation, is the top seed in the Central Region; second-ranked Stanford is seeded No. 1 in the Pacific Region; Pacific is the top seed in the East and Hawaii, which hosts the Final Four Dec. 16 and 18, is the No. 1 seed in the Mountain Region. UCLA is making its 18th NCAA Tournament appearance and last won the national title in 1991. USC is making its ninth-straight tournament appearance, and this is Pepperdine's 12th trip and third straight.
