The Antelope Valley
 College's celebration of Black History Month, beginning Feb. 20.

A weekly showing of films that recognize the contributions of African- Americans will be held 3 p.m. each Friday, starting Feb. 20 and concluding March 19.

The films include ``The Rosa Parks Noun 1. Rosa Parks - United States civil rights leader who refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white man in Montgomery (Alabama) and so triggered the national Civil Rights movement (born in 1913)

 Story'' on Feb. 20, ``Malcolm X'' on Feb. 27, ``A Raisin raisin, in botany and cooking
raisin, dried fruit of certain varieties of grapevines bearing grapes with a high content of sugar and solid flesh. Although the fruit is sometimes artificially dehydrated, it is usually sun-dried.
 in the Sun'' on March 5, ``Five Heartbeats'' on March 12 and ``School Daze'' on March 19. The films will be shown in the Choral cho·ral

Approximately 30 art pieces, including sculptures, paintings and textiles, will be displayed at an art show and reception featuring the work of local and nationally recognized artists from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 in the administration building lobby. Several artists whose work will be displayed are slated to attend.

Gospel choirs will present ``Gospel Explosion'' from 3 to 7 p.m. on March 6 in the Choral Room, FA3 162. The concert will include a multimedia show.

Soul food, traditional dishes from Nigeria and Liberia, dancers and singers will be on hand for the Black History Festival, from noon to 4p.m. on March 13 in the campus cafeteria cafeteria: see restaurant. .

The events are sponsored by Antelope Valley College's Black Faculty and Staff Association. Admission is free at all of the events.
