``We're really talking about a whole new way of doing things,'' said Michelle Jenkins, a college trustee. ``At this point, we want to see the facilities as opened up as possible.''

The college has several issues to examine before it can agree to use of the facilities, including security, union contracts, maintenance and compliance with state laws.

Because of the popularity of the city's recreation programs, the waiting lists have remained long, even with the addition of new facilities, including the use of the Valencia High School Valencia High School may refer to:

On top of the ``massive'' basketball program, the city has 2,000 players enrolled in the softball/T-ball leagues, 450 in the summer basketball competitions and 480 in the flag football programs. And that's just youth sports.

``The parents out there want their children to get in and unless we work together, it's not going to happen,'' Caravalho told the city and college officials Tuesday.
