COLLEGE OF THE CANYONS ROLLS OUT KIDS' SUMMER FUN.

VALENCIA -- College of the Canyons Extension is offering a summer lineup of classes and day camps for kids 5 and older.

For the 17th summer, the Canyons Extension will host the Institute of Reading Development to provide reading instruction for all ages. Classes will include pre-reading, reading enrichment, speed-reading, comprehension and study skills and efficiency reading for work, school and recreation.

Programs range in price from $199 to $299 per session with a variety of class times and dates.

For future scientists, the extension program will host Destination Science camps for 5- to 11-year-olds. This year's day camps include four, one-week sessions that run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays for $295 per week. Half-day sessions are also available at $159 a week.

Camp themes include Extreme Battlebots, Hydro Galactic Rocket Mania, Outrageous Science Mysteries and Raging Wet Reaction Lab.

Teens and adults can take a cartooning workshop with professional cartoonist Chris Martinez. A one-week, early morning fine arts camp with local artist Lorelle Miller will be offered for kids 7 to 12.

The Money Camps for kids and teens are weeklong financial literacy programs. The cost is $259 for each weeklong camp that meets from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays.

Horse-lovers 6 to 16 can benefit from ``try out'' equestrian practice. Each one-day camp will be held at Windy Ridge Ranch in Agua Dulce from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at a cost of $59.

College-bound students can prepare for the SAT by taking an SAT preparation class. Other classes available for teens are an American Red Cross baby-sitting class for ages 11 to 15 and a Canyons Aquatics Swim Club for ages 5 to 18.
