COLLEGE OF THE CANYONS ROLLS OUT KIDS' SUMMER FUN.Byline: Daily News VALENCIA -- College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation. Extension is offering a summer lineup of classes and day camps for kids 5 and older. For the 17th summer, the Canyons Extension will host the Institute of Reading Development to provide reading instruction for all ages. Classes will include pre-reading, reading enrichment, speed-reading, comprehension and study skills and efficiency reading for work, school and recreation. Programs range in price from $199 to $299 per session with a variety of class times and dates. For future scientists, the extension program will host Destination Science camps for 5- to 11-year-olds. This year's day camps include four, one-week sessions that run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays for $295 per week. Half-day sessions are also available at $159 a week.
