COLLEGE NAMES NEW DIRECTOR OF ITS PHYSICAL PLANT OFFICE.

Vincent R. Kaniatobe of Valencia has joined California Institute of the Arts as the new director of the physical plant office.

He replaced Jim Bretthauer, who retired in July after 16 years with the arts college. Kaniatobe was plant director at Mount St. Mary's College in Brentwood and before that, director of facilities planning and management at the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico.

With a staff of nearly 60 people, he stresses that, ``We provide a service, and the entire college community at CalArts is our customer. We're only as good as what we can provide.''

One of his goals personally is to be able to have the physical plant office in close communication with other offices.
