The defeat spoiled the debut of Kingsmen head coach Scott Squires, only the third head coach in the school's 35-year history.

Hlavacek, who rushed for a career-high 160 yards on 20 carries, scored touchdowns on runs of 1, 3 and 76 yards. He also added a 31-yard touchdown reception from quarterback John Khamis and had 52 yards on three punt returns.

The Toreros (1-1) converted five Cal Lutheran turnovers and a blocked punt into 17 points, 10 of which came in the first eight minutes of the third quarter.

Cal Lutheran, which scored with one second to go in the first half on Jason Chang's 1-yard TD run, added second-half touchdowns on Billy Busch's 2-yard run and 42-yard punt return by Ryan Babcock.

The Raiders rushed for 294 yards, led by Bryan Wilkins, who carried the ball 11 times for 77 yards and one touchdown.

Quarterback Taj Lewis threw for two Raiders touchdowns, completing 6 of 16 passes for 87 yards. Lewis also rushed for 62 yards on four attempts with one touchdown.

The Moorpark defense recorded eight sacks, forced four fumbles and held the Pirates to only 150 total yards.

Glendale 42, Citrus 21: Running back Ramon Archie rushed for 190 yards on 27 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead the Vaqueros (1-0) to a nonconference victory over the Owls (0-1) at Citrus.

Archie was helped in the backfield by Rahsaan Harrison, who gained 120 yards on 20 carries as Glendale rolled up 355 yards on the ground.

Rio Hondo quarterback Tommy Vazquez completed 22 of 37 passes for 272 yards and four touchdowns as an injury replacement for Gabe Gutierrez (ankle). Vazquez, who had no interceptions, threw three TD strikes to Guillermo Calderon.

Pierce, with its starting quarterback position still to be decided, platooned freshmen Dan McMullen (14 of 28 for 109 yards and no interceptions) and Jim Landress (7 of 18, 71 yards and three interceptions).

White's 4-yard scoring reception from quarterback Rocque Sandoval came on the game's last play.
