Maybe more important, Prairie View A&M might have had the edge in the battle of the bands as well.

Although that's up for debate.

Both schools put on a show athletically as well as musically. Halftime featured a set from both bands complete with dancers and crowd-moving renditions.

A drumline and step show preceded the game.

Val Ford provided the show on the field, scoring two early touchdowns for Prairie View A&M. He picked up teammate Riante Jones' block of North Carolina A&T's punt and jogged 20 yards for the opening score 50 seconds into the second quarter. Then, a second punt caromed off several Panthers' defenders and fell fortuitously for·tu·i·tous

Prairie View A&M had a 13-0 lead just before halftime, without having to even break a sweat offensively.

"This is my first time on the West Coast, and this is probably the best experience of my life," said Ford, who also tackled running back Michael Ferguson There are several people who may be referred to as Michael Ferguson:

North Carolina A&T quarterback Shelton Morgan connected on a 31-yard touchdown pass that brought A&T within 20-7 with 6:43 left, but the Aggies could not overcome their early woes.

Starting quarterback Herbert Miller was knocked out of the game one minute before the half, and he was on crutches wearing a right-knee brace following the game.

Twice, the Aggies were in the red zone, but Kicker Eric Houston missed one field-goal try and had another blocked.

"We have to take advantages of opportunities," said Ferguson, who finished with 181 yards on the ground. "I liked it (though); this was the biggest crowd I've played in front of."

Prairie View A&M coach Lee Fobbs also praised the event and was pleased to have USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  coach Pete Carroll Peter C.
