teams, the new uniforms use college teams.

Mike Fine, the president of Simi Youth Baseball, said the change will cut uniform costs and encourage the young baseball players to start thinking about college.

"It will save money, but if we get these kids to start thinking about college, that's our No. 1 goal," Fine said.

"It's a win-win," said Eric Rose, who has two sons in the Simi Youth Baseball PONY group. "The league will save over 30 percent in uniform costs and now our ballplayers will be looking up to college players as role models."

The fields, at 497 Irvine Road, are home to about 600 PONY baseball players. The group's Web site is http://simiyouth.com.
