COLLEGE DISTRICT NAMES OFFICERS.

Coronado is across the bay.  administrator Michael Gregoryk has been named deputy chancellor for the Ventura County Community College District.

The district also has named Judith Valles, retired president of Golden West College, as acting president of Oxnard College.

Gregoryk, who will begin work Sept. 1, will serve as the district's chief financial officer. He will receive an annual salary of $114,000, officials said.

His duties will include districtwide oversight of all fiscal activities, information systems, facilities planning and development, contracts management, health, safety, and environmental areas.

``I think he is an excellent fit for the future of Ventura County's community colleges,'' Chancellor Philip Westin said. ``Mike has a long career of demonstrated leadership, both in organizational management and in professional and civic involvement.''

Gregoryk was unavailable for comment.

Valles, a veteran of 39 years in education, will make approximately $8,500 per month based on the former Oxnard College president's annual salary, according to district officials. She begins work July 29.

The district has hired a professional firm to conduct a nationwide search for a permanent president, Westin said.

Valles, 62, said she feels good about coming on board as officials search for a permanent president.

``From everyone I've spoken to, I've heard it's a beautiful area and I'm looking forward to working there,'' said Valles, who lives in San Bernardino.

Gregoryk has 20 years experience in community college fiscal management. He served as vice president of administrative services at Western Nebraska Community College Western Nebraska Community College is a community college in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Its athletics teams are known as the Cougars.

Valles has served for 25 years at San Bernardino Valley College San Bernardino Valley College is a community college located in San Bernardino, California. It is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
