COLLEGE BASKETBALL USC VS. OREGON STATE.

USC (15-4, 7-2) update: There shouldn't be a problem getting motivated for this game. USC was upset by the Beavers 67-52 last year in Corvallis in one of the more embarrassing performances of the season. ``Oregon State is always a tough place for some reason,'' senior point guard Brandon Granville said. ``The crowd is not loud and the rims are soft, but for some reason we haven't won there. We're going to tell the younger guys what we've been through.''

Oregon State (10-9, 3-6) update: The Beavers are coming off a road sweep of the Washington schools that snapped a four-game losing streak. Junior-college transfer Philip Ricci is averaging 16.6 points and 7.2 rebounds. Forward Brian Jackson, who scored 22 points against the Trojans last season in Corvallis, averages 12.5 points and 4.1 rebounds. Oregon State has won five of its past seven home games against USC.

UCLA vs. OREGON

UCLA (14-5, 6-3) update: The Bruins have won two of three in Eugene, but this one won't be easy. The Bruins have gotten virtually no contribution on the road from their four freshmen and sophomore T.J. Cummings. They've combined to average 10.6 points and seven rebounds and most of those numbers were accumulated against the Washington schools. The Bruins, who have been a much better team lately when center Dan Gadzuric stays out of foul trouble, don't mind getting in a high-scoring game as long as the pace isn't as frantic as Oregon would like.

Oregon (15-5, 7-2) update: The Ducks have been tough at home, going 11-0 with an average margin of victory of 26.9 points. Only two games were closer than 13 points - wins over Stanford by eight and Cal by four. At home, Oregon is shooting 51 percent from the field, 45 percent on 3-pointers and averaging just 12 turnovers. The Ducks, who lead the Pacific-10 Conference in scoring at 85.8 points per game, have the conference's best perimeter threesome in Freddie Jones, Luke Ridnour and Luke Jackson. The only time the Ducks have been outrebounded in the Pac-10, they've lost at Arizona State and Washington.

CSUN vs. PACIFIC

CSUN (8-10, 7-2) update: The Matadors, who have won five in a row and are tied with UC Irvine at first place in the Big West Conference, play the first of three in a row on the road. CSUN beat Pacific 70-59 on Jan. 5, outrebounding the Tigers 42-30. Senior guard Markus Carr, who leads the team in scoring with 17.6 points per game, was named the Big West player of the week for the second time. Curtis Slaughter, averaging eight points, has scored in eight consecutive games. CSUN is 3-1 on the road in the Big West.

Pacific (13-6, 5-4) update: The Tigers, who have won seven consecutive home games, are tied for fifth in the conference. Pacific, which is CSUN's travel partner, just beat UC Riverside and Fullerton last week but lost to Long Beach State and UC Irvine on the road the week before. Pacific held Fullerton to 48 points, the lowest scoring output for any Big West team this season. The Tigers rank 29th in the nation in 3-point field-goals per game, averaging 8.1.
