Paul Coleman threw a complete-game shutout Saturday with a school-record 16 strikeouts for Pepperdine in a 9-0 victory over New Orleans New Orleans (ôr`lēənz –lənz, ôrlēnz`), city (2006 pop. 187,525), coextensive with Orleans parish, SE La., between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain, 107 mi (172 km) by water from the river mouth; founded  in a Dairy Queen Dairy Queen (also known as DQ) is an ice-cream shop and fast-food restaurant franchise based in the United States and founded in 1940.

For many years the franchise's slogan was "We treat you right!" In recent years, it has been changed to "DQ something different.

The complete-game was the first of Coleman's career. The junior left- hander allowed just two hits and one walk to improve his record to 3-0 on the season for Pepperdine (8-7).

His 16 strikeouts broke the mark set by former Pepperdine All-American Noah Lowry, who fanned 15 in 2001. The complete-game shutout was the first by a Waves pitcher since Brandon Boesch accomplished the feat in 2003.

 3: UCLA had the tying run on third base with one out in the eighth inning but the Bruins (7-8) could not push the run across and lost their second game in the Kia Baseball Bash at CS Fullerton.

Jarrad Page's ninth-inning double, his third hit of the afternoon, scored pinch-hitter Sean Carpenter from second and narrowed UCLA's deficit to four runs, but second baseman Tommy Lansdon struck out with two runners on base to end the game.

The Bruins have lost four in a row for the first time since March 6-12 of last season.
