COLLEGE BASEBALL : WILSON MAKES GRAND (SLAM) CSUN DEBUT.

Outfielder Andy Wilson, a former Thousand Oaks High star who played last season at Arkansas, made an impressive debut for Cal State Northridge, hitting a grand slam that was the highlight of the Matadors' 10-5 season-opening win Friday over Cal Baptist in Riverside.

Wilson also doubled to lead a 13-hit attack that also featured a solo home run by preseason All-American Adam Kennedy.

The school opened in 1983 as the district's first high school, along with Margarita Middle School and Temecula Elementary School. It is a California Distinguished School.  School. He had a single and double.

Pitchers Gary Stephenson and Bryant Fick each threw one scoreless inning in relief, but Cal Baptist scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth to give the Matadors a brief scare.
