Wolf, a sophomore left-hander at Pepperdine, allowed two hits in 6-1/3 innings. Evans, a junior right-hander at California, permitted four hits in six innings. Once both had departed, California pulled out 2-0 win over the Waves in a nonconference game.

Former El Camino Real shortstop Dan Cey got a double off Wolf, his former high school teammate, and finished with two hits.

Wolf, a leading candidate to make the U.S. Olympic team this summer, had sharp form until walking two batters in the sixth and being relieved by John Workman. Wolf threw 82 pitches.

"I felt if I threw it, I didn't know where it was going to go, so I was tired," Wolf said.

Evans, Crespi's No. 2 pitcher in 1993 behind Boston Red Sox The Boston Red Sox are a professional baseball team based in Boston, Massachusetts. The Red Sox are a member and currently champions of the Eastern Division of Major League Baseball’s American League. From to the present, the Red Sox have played in Fenway Park.  right-hander Jeff Suppan, has come on strong at California. Last summer, he emerged as the top pitcher in the Cape Cod League. He continued his superb form Friday, walking three and striking out one.

"He's placing his pitches and mixing it up," Wolf said of Evans.

USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  9, Long Beach State 5:Former Notre Dame star Ryan Stromsborg had three hits as USC rallied from a 5-2 deficit to improve to 2-0 at Dedeaux Field.

Jacque Jones had a two-run single during USC's six-run fourth inning and Greg Walbridge added a two-run double. Long Beach received a solo home run from former Reseda High and Valley College outfielder Will Skett, plus a two-run double from former Crespi catcher Casey Snow.

CS Hayward 5, The Master's 4: Jim Young was 2 for 3 with a double and two runs scored for The Master's (0-2) in a loss at home. Second baseman Jayme Riggio had a double and two RBI, scoring once, while Justin Miller had one RBI.

Texas vs. CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge , ppd.: The first game of a three-game series between Texas and Cal State Northridge in Austin, Texas, was postponed because of inclement weather. A doubleheader is scheduled today.
