Continuing to support a fellow guard weeks after her death, the California Correction Peace Officers Association is offering a $10,000 reward for information about her murderer.

The reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for murdering Elizabeth Begaren, shot down Jan. 17 beside a Riverside Freeway on-ramp in Anaheim.

``Officer Begaren put her life on the line every day protecting the public from violent, convicted felons,'' CCPA Vice President Mike Jimenez said in writing. ``We owe it to her and her family to help the police find the killer and bring them to justice.''

Begaren was shot to death in front of her husband and stepdaughter after their car was forced off the roadway by four assailants driving a full-size, dark-color car.

The three had spent a day shopping at Burbank Macy's and were carrying $4,800.

``The Anaheim police have been working day and night to locate her attackers, but have no solid leads,'' said Jimenez. ``There may be people out there with information about this case, but are hesitant to get involved. We hope this reward will encourage them to do the right thing and contact the police.''
