starting power forward Trevor Ariza Trevor Anthony Ariza (born June 30 1985 in Miami, Florida) is an American professional basketball player in the NBA for the Orlando Magic. After a college career at UCLA, Ariza was a second round draft choice (43rd overall) of the New York Knicks in the 2004 NBA Draft. , who led the Bruins in scoring and rebounding in two exhibition games, learned Friday he will miss at least the first four games of the season because of a collapsed lung.

On the eve On the Eve (Накануне in Russian) is the third novel by famous Russian writer Ivan Turgenev, best known for his short stories and the novel Fathers and Sons.  of UCLA's season opener today against Vermont, Ariza was diagnosed with spontaneous pneumothorax spontaneous pneumothorax

Coach Ben Howland Ben Howland (born May 28, 1957 in Lebanon, Oregon) is an American college head coach of men's basketball.

He has been the head coach of the University of California, Los Angeles since 2003, and recently signed a contract extension through 2013.
will decide today on Ariza's replacement. Ryan Hollins is the favorite, with Josiah Johnson a close second. The loss of Ariza further hurts UCLA's depth in the frontcourt because T.J. Cummings is academically ineligible.

``We all feel for Trevor and his family,'' Howland said. ``We're thankful it was caught early and he'll return to practice in a couple of weeks. Trevor's done a great job for us. In our two exhibition games, he was our most productive player.''

According to The Lung Association's Web site, spontaneous pneumothorax ``is a collection of air or gas in the chest that causes the lung to collapse in the absence of a traumatic injury to the chest or lung.''

Ariza, a 6-foot-7, 197-pound freshman from Westchester High in Los Angeles, suffers from asthma. He was pulled from practice Thursday because of pain in the left side of his upper back. At the time, the school said it did not consider the condition serious.

But Ariza was examined Friday at UCLA Medical Center UCLA Medical Center is a hospital located on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles in Los Angeles, California. It is rated as one of the top three hospitals in the United States and is the top hospital on the West Coast according to US News & World Report. , where he was diagnosed and released.

When Ariza returns, he likely will need time to get back in shape since he won't be able to practice until he is cleared by doctors.

``We will miss Trevor, but the most important issue is his health,'' Howland said. ``We're going to err on the side of caution and make sure Trevor's completely well before he returns to practice.''

Ariza, who would have been the first freshman since Jason Kapono in 1999 to start his first collegiate game for UCLA, averaged 16.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in two exhibition games.
