The Centre, which will lie in the heart of the Cite du Multimedia, represents an investment of Cdn$500 million in salaries, infrastructure, equipment and installations during the next 10 years. The 2,000 employees of the Centre will focus on one of the four following areas: - Design and development of software solutions, components for the development and implementation of client/server applications, Web and multimedia applications. This expertise will be offered on a world-wide basis; - Engineering/re-engineering, programming, applications re- engineering and modernization modernization Transformation of a society from a rural and agrarian condition to a secular, urban, and industrial one. It is closely linked with industrialization. As societies modernize, the individual becomes increasingly important, gradually replacing the family, ; - Design and development of multimedia applications; - Design and development of multi-protocol telecommunications servers. Mr. Brisebois noted that all of the 2,000 employees who will begin working at the Centre within the next five years will be professionals with IT training. Among them will be a variety of programmers/analysts with college and university degrees.
